J esus’ divine invitation “Come to Me” is to two groups of people -the weary and the burdened. He offers His grace through divine invitation because He has the authority to do so. Admittedly, there is no question about His ability to fulfil His promise. The purpose of His open invitation is to demonstrate His love, grace favor and compassion. To tell you the truth, He forever forgives, sets free prisoners of sin, restores sight to the blind, and gives hope to the hopeless. In addition, He heals the depressed and all manner of sicknesses and gives peace to those who call upon Him. 27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” 1Consider the Authority of the One Offering the Divine Invitation Admittedly, some people use authority to control, abuse, intimidate, oppress, cheat, dominate, show off, rob, kill, and destroy. The list is endless. The world has known no peace because governments and people in authority around the world have employed these vices over the years. Two things are common to these worldly authorities – limited and temporary. In contrast, our lord Jesus Christ’s authority is divine and is eternal. What is more, His authority has no limitation. He chose to give us eternal hope and life, set us free, and forgive, not to mention His unconditional love. This is the nature of the GOD offering the divine invitation to come today. He is able and willing to give rest to your soul. 2The Weary and the Burdened are the Candidates for Divine Invitation Some people are tired of walking in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, sit in the seat of scoffers | Psalm 1:1. Equally, others are tired of their sicknesses & diseases such as the woman with the issue of blood | Luke 8:43-48. Likewise, several people are carrying huge load of sin and unforgiveness robbing them of their peace and joy in life. Divine invitation is still open today. 3Jesus’s Divine Invitation is A Gift Divine invitation to come to Jesus is for all who need rest for their souls. The scriptures says ” the Grace of God has appeared to all men” | Titus 2:11-14. We must not abuse Gods’ Grace neither should we reject His grace. To illustrate, one of the counties in Southern California, provided homeless shelter, which costs millions of dollars so they could have comfortable accommodation. One homeless man surprisingly said, he preferred to be homeless than living in the facility because the facility is worse than jail. The homeless man rejected such a good offer that cost millions of dollars on the back of tax payers, so are many people rejecting the free gift of God. When someone rejects Jesus’ divine invitation, the person has rejected true love, peace and eternal life. Conclusion To conclude, Christ is waiting for all who are weary and heavy laden to respond to His divine invitation so they will find rest for their souls. Today, my prayer for you is that, if you have not already accepted Christ’s divine invitation, you will choose to accept His invitation by faith. I encourage you not to reject true and pure love, peace and eternal life. God bless you for taking the time to read! Will you accept Christ’s divine invitation today?
